Ar500 Wear Resistant Steel Plate

What is AR500 Steel?

Much like AR450 and AR400, AR500 steel is a specific type of abrasion resistant steel.  This has a surface hardness of 477-534 BHN. It is a high-carbon steel alloy that provides greater impact and sliding abrasion resistance by comparison. However, this increase in strength and abrasion resistance will make the steel less malleable.

Benefits of AR500 Steel Plate

The main benefit of AR500 steel plate, like any abrasion resistant steel, is its ability to resist wear and abrasion. Because of this, it can lead to less down time and can improve the longevity of your equipment by reducing erosion and wear. All of this, in turn, can lead to maximized production time.

Properties

AR500 steel is one of the more abrasion resistant steels available. As you increase hardness, however, you are creating a more rigid steel. This means that AR500 is less weldable and formable than other types of AR steel. It has the following chemical and mechanical properties:

· Welding = Decent

· Machining = Good

· Abrasion Resistance = Excellent

· Corrosion Resistance = Good

· Forming = Fair

Industries and Applications

AR500 can be used in many industries for many applications, including:

· Mining

· Material Handling

· Aggregate

· Dump Trucks

· Material Transfer Chutes

· Storage Bins

· Buckets

· Hoppers

Sizes

GNEE Steel can supply the following sizes of AR500 Steel:

· 25”-0.315” offered in 48”-65” wide, cut to your requested length

· 375”-2.00” offer in standard sizes (96” x 240”/288”)

Requirements

AR500 meets ASTM E10 standards for mechanical properties. The flatness and thickness standards are also 50% of that specified in ASTM A-6 with special tolerances available.
